At Allure Pest Solutions, we’re proud to be part of communities that look out for one another and, the Dayboro community is a perfect example of that. This month, we’re shining a light on the incredible work of the Dayboro Lions Club, a group of dedicated volunteers who are constantly working behind the scenes to support locals and strengthen the Dayboro community. Our team member Tiani, a proud Dayboro local, chose the Dayboro Lions Club after seeing firsthand the positive impact they have on the community.
Who are the the Dayboro Lions Club?

“In the heart of Dayboro, a dedicated group of volunteers is quietly making a powerful difference. The Dayboro Lions Club stands as a shining example of what community spirit can achieve, bringing people together to support one another, strengthen local connections, and improve quality of life for residents of all ages. Entirely volunteer-run, the club is driven by individuals who generously give their time and energy to create meaningful opportunities for connection, support, and service. Their work reaches far beyond simple acts of kindness, it builds a stronger, more resilient community where everyone has the chance to feel included and supported.”
Bringing the community together
One of the things that really stands out is how many ways the club brings people together. Their long-running monthly Movie Nights have become a local tradition. It gives families, friends, and neighbors a chance to relax and enjoy time together. The club holds Movie Nights on the third Saturday of each month from February to November.
For those looking for connection on a more regular basis, The Conversation Club offers a welcoming space for the older community. You can meet, chat, and build friendships through morning tea with activities, and excursions. Something that can make a real difference for those who may otherwise feel isolated. This is a joint project with the Dayboro Uniting Church, held every Thursday and Friday.
Younger members of the community are also recognised. The School Citizen Award program highlights primary school students who demonstrate leadership, positive contributions, and a strong sense of community, helping inspire the next generation to stay involved and give back.
Backing local businesses is a major priority for the Dayboro Lions Club. The club compiles a Local Business Directory to connect residents with services in the area, offers a digital app version, and promotes local enterprises via an electronic noticeboard that can also be used by Police to share important updates during emergencies.
They host many events; here are some examples of their magnificent work. Dinner Meetings with guest speakers, often described as a “local TED Talk,”. The Australia Day Beer Mile, a unique local tradition. The Diggers Lunch which honours local military service families.
Seasonal Cheer
To continue traditions, the Dayboro Lions Club contributes many seasonal gatherings. The Business Lights Competition brings community pride and festive atmosphere to the end of the year. Their Lions Christmas Cakes fundraiser is a well-loved tradition. The highly anticipated event Santa’s Christmas Eve Lolly Run, where Santa comes to Dayboro to spread cheer. This is a joint project with the Dayboro Sheriff’s Fund, and it’s a memorable highlight of the holidays and a reminder of the simple magic that comes from being together.
Community health and sustainability
The Club helps create a healthier community by supporting both the wellbeing of its people and the local environment. The Lions Green Canopy Project sees local volunteers incorporate tree planting into the ‘Clean the Creek’ morning. Clean Up Dayboro Day is another project to encourage a tidy town for everyone to enjoy.
Through the Recycle for Sight program, used glasses can be dropped off at Dayboro Pharmacy, Dayboro Medical, and Dayboro Valley Health. These items are then refurbished and donated on to people in need, helping improve vision and quality of life worldwide. The club also collects donated stamps. This supports the Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation in providing essential equipment and assistance to children with mobility needs.
Within the local community, the Dayboro Lions Club offers a free medical equipment loan service. This ensures residents recovering from injury, surgery, or illness can access necessary equipment without added financial strain. This makes a meaningful difference during challenging periods and supports independence and dignity.
